Al-Khanbashi Discusses Enhancing Military and Security Readiness in Hadramawt with Second Military Region Commander

Yemen Monitor / Newsroom: Presidential Leadership Council (PLC) member and Governor of Hadramawt, Salem Ahmed Al-Khanbashi, met on Tuesday with the newly appointed Commander of the Second Military Region, Major General Amer Abdullah Muhammad bin Hatyan, to review the governorate’s military and security posture, field operational readiness, and mechanisms to strengthen security coordination. The meeting follows Presidential Leadership Council Resolution No. (236) of 2026, issued by the Chairman of the PLC and Supreme Commander of the Armed Forces, appointing Bin Hatyan as Commander of the Second Military Region and promoting him to the rank of Major General. During the meeting, Al-Khanbashi emphasized the critical need to intensify military and security efforts, while reinforcing integration and coordination among various military units, formations, and security agencies. He stressed that maintaining the security and stability of Hadramawt remains a top priority to safeguard regional gains and counter any potential threats to public safety. Al-Khanbashi highlighted the necessity of maintaining high operational vigilance to counter threats posed by the armed Houthi movement against Hadramawt and liberated governorates, underscoring the importance of unified efforts to protect citizens and public infrastructure. For his part, Major General Bin Hatyan provided an overview of the Second Military Region’s general posture and ongoing operational tasks. He reaffirmed the command’s commitment to fulfilling its responsibilities with efficiency, while enhancing cooperation with local authorities and security organs to serve the region’s stability. Concluding the meeting, Al-Khanbashi called for continuous operational development, enhanced troop discipline and readiness, and an expanded security presence on the ground to enforce the rule of law and maintain public confidence in military and security institutions.
