Yemen Monitor / Newsroom: The Adalah Rights and Development Organization has condemned a landmine explosion planted by the armed Houthi movement in the Al-Mahashimah area of Khab wa al-Sha’af District, northern Al-Jawf Governorate, which severely injured two children and destroyed their father’s vehicle. In a statement, the rights organization said the blast injured two children identified as Mutard Musfir and Salha Musfir, while destroying the vehicle owned by their father, Musfir Hussein Thailan Al-Mahashimi, which served as the family’s sole source of income. The organization warned against the continued deployment of landmines along roads and in open desert areas, stressing that they pose a grave threat to civilian lives and deprive families of their rights to freedom of movement, employment, and earning a safe livelihood. Adalah called for the immediate clearance of landmines from affected areas, the implementation of necessary measures to safeguard civilians, the provision of urgent medical care and financial assistance to the affected family, and accountability for those responsible for the incident. Landmines and unexploded ordnance continue to claim civilian lives across Yemen, frequently inflicting casualties among children while destroying local infrastructure, private property, and community livelihoods.
