Hadramawt Governor Announces Upcoming Signing of Contracts for Three Strategic Road Projects

Yemen Monitor / Newsroom: Member of the Presidential Leadership Council and Governor of Hadramawt, Salem Ahmed Al-Khanbashi, reviewed on Sunday the readiness for signing contracts for three strategic road projects in the governorate, scheduled to be concluded next week. The projects are funded and supervised by the Ministry of Public Works and Roads alongside the Road and Bridge Maintenance Fund, and will be executed by the General Corporation for Roads and Bridges in coastal Hadramawt. According to the Media Office of Hadramawt Governorate, the announcement came during a meeting between Al-Khanbashi and the Director-General of the General Corporation for Roads and Bridges, Eng. Taha Bahaidrah, who presented the completion of approval procedures for the three projects and preparations to commence execution. The infrastructure projects include the rehabilitation and improvement of Al-Sitteen Street in the city of Mukalla over a stretch of 9 kilometers, extending from the Al-Baldah roundabout to beyond the platform area. The project will enhance traffic safety measures through the installation of more than 4,000 cat’s eye retroreflective markers and over 40 traffic signs. The scope also covers the maintenance of the governorate’s western entrance, spanning approximately 70 kilometers from the Khumr “Ibn Sina” area to Bir Ali. Additionally, it includes the maintenance and rehabilitation of the eastern entrance from Dis Saad district to beyond the Ras Baghashwah area, covering 3 kilometers as a first phase within a broader plan to complete the 60-kilometer road reaching Dhanabat and Hadatham during 2027. Al-Khanbashi emphasized the importance of these projects in improving the road network, elevating traffic safety standards, facilitating the movement of citizens and travelers, and strengthening connectivity across the governorate’s regions. He stressed the necessity of finalizing the signing procedures and commencing execution in accordance with approved technical specifications and established timelines to ensure successful completion and the achievement of intended goals.
