Yemen Monitor/ Newsroom: Yemeni Minister of Information, Salem Thabit Al-Awlaqi, affirmed in his first statement following his constitutional oath taking that the ministry’s priorities for the coming phase focus on modernizing official media institutions and unifying discourse to confront the Houthi group and expose its misleading narrative. He explained that the ministry will work on building the capacity of media personnel, improving the work environment, establishing an institutional approach based on efficiency and development, protecting journalists’ rights, promoting media freedoms, and guaranteeing citizens’ right to access knowledge and information. Al-Awlaqi highlighted the ministry’s commitment to building broader bridges of communication and cooperation with various media outlets and journalistic entities, based on a belief in media pluralism and respect for its independence, thereby reinforcing the values of professionalism, credibility, and responsibility. He stressed that confronting the Houthi group and its sectarian coup project requires harnessing all capabilities and energy to expose its violations and heighten national awareness, calling for an end to internal bickering and conflicts that drain resources and distract from the primary battle.
