Yemen Monitor | Newsroom: The Saudi-led Coalition to Support Legitimacy in Yemen said on Friday that it had intercepted two ballistic missiles launched towards the southern Saudi city of Najran, with debris falling in the area, while also destroying a drone over the Mecca region in the west of the kingdom. Coalition spokesperson Turki Al-Maliki said Saudi air defenses had successfully intercepted the two missiles, adding that the relevant authorities were assessing the damage caused by falling debris. In a subsequent statement, Al-Maliki said a drone had also been intercepted and destroyed over the Mecca region, without identifying who launched it or specifying its intended target. The incidents coincided with the Saudi Civil Defense issuing two early warnings to residents of Najran over potential danger. On both occasions, it later announced that the threat had passed, urging residents to follow official instructions and avoid gathering or taking photographs at incident sites. The developments came a day after the coalition announced that it had intercepted a ballistic missile allegedly launched by the Houthis towards the Medina region. The group’s military spokesperson, Yahya Saree, denied the claim. The coalition also said on Thursday that it had destroyed a drone in the Eastern Province, without identifying its origin.
