Yemen Monitor / Newsroom: Yemeni Minister of Foreign Affairs and Expatriates, Dr. Afrah Al-Zouba, met in Paris with French Minister for Europe and Foreign Affairs, Philippe Tabarot, to discuss developments in Yemen, the military escalation by the Houthi movement, and its broader impact on national security, international navigation, and global trade routes. In a statement published on her official account, Al-Zouba confirmed that she delivered a written letter from the Chairman of the Presidential Leadership Council, Rashad Al-Alimi, addressed to French President Emmanuel Macron, covering key issues of mutual concern. Al-Zouba noted that the talks addressed the severe humanitarian and security ramifications of the prolonged Houthi blockade on the city of Taiz, as well as attacks targeting civilian areas in Yemen and the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia. She emphasized the critical need to counter misleading narratives promoted by the group and to address threats that have expanded beyond Yemeni borders to jeopardize regional security and international maritime commerce. The minister underscored the shared commitment of both nations to strengthen bilateral ties and expand diplomatic consultation. She expressed the Yemeni Government’s appreciation for France’s steadfast support for legitimate state institutions and its consistent condemnation of attacks on civilian infrastructure and the siege of Taiz. Al-Zouba concluded by emphasizing that supporting state institutions in Yemen and halting direct Iranian military support to the Houthi movement serve the joint interests of Yemen and France, contributing directly to regional stability and the protection of global maritime lanes.
