Yemen Monitor / Newsroom: Photojournalist Abdulrahman Al-Houri was killed yesterday, Friday, while covering battles between forces of the Yemeni Army and gunmen of the Houthi group south of Marib, eastern Yemen. The National Organization of Yemeni Journalists (SADA) stated that “photojournalist Abdulrahman Al-Houri was martyred while carrying out his field journalistic duties south of Marib Governorate, where he was working on covering military operations for a number of media institutions.” The organization condemned the targeting of photojournalist Al-Houri and all field media workers, emphasizing that the protection of journalists during armed conflicts is an inherent right rooted in the rules of international humanitarian law. SADA demanded the formation of independent investigation committees to determine the circumstances of these crimes and legally prosecute their perpetrators, stressing the necessity of ending impunity to ensure these violations are not repeated and to provide full protection for the practice of journalistic work. The organization revealed that four journalists and media sector workers have been killed during the current year.
