Yemen Monitor / Newsroom: Yemeni government forces announced Saturday that they recaptured two military sites from the Houthi group in Taiz Governorate, coinciding with renewed clashes on several of the governorate’s fronts and the outbreak of battles in Al-Maqatra District, Lahj Governorate, amid Houthi push attempts and shelling targeting residential areas. The Yemeni Armed Forces, represented by the 4th Hazm Brigade, stated that they recaptured the Al-Hirz and Aqeel sites in the Al-A’boos sub-district of Haifan District, southeast of Taiz, following violent clashes with the Houthi group, confirming that military operations are ongoing to fully secure the area. On the Al-Aqrood front, south of the city of Taiz, the media center of the Taiz Military Axis reported that the armed forces, supported by the Popular Resistance, are engaged in fierce battles with the Houthi group amid renewed confrontations on that front. The center noted that Houthi shelling targeted the villages of Dubba and Al-Dhuneib in Al-Misrakh District using tanks, a development that accompanied the ongoing clashes in the area. In Lahj Governorate, field sources reported that government forces and the Popular Resistance repelled a Houthi attack in the Al-Bu’aymah and Al-Hanayshah areas of Al-Maqatra District, which aimed to advance toward the vicinity of the Souq Al-Rabu’ area. The sources added that clashes continued in the Abal Al-Zurayqah area and the outskirts of the Al-Jamrak area without either side achieving field gains, noting that government forces and the Popular Resistance are reorganizing their ranks in the Al-Rabu’ area and at the strategic Al-Maqatra Citadel. According to the same sources, several areas have witnessed airstrikes targeting Houthi sites and targets over the past hours, which, according to field reports, resulted in casualties and the destruction of several military vehicles and equipment, without a precise count provided.
