Lahj Local Authority Issues Urgent Appeal as Displacement Surges in Al-Subeiha
Yemen Monitor / Newsroom: The local authority of Lahj Governorate issued an urgent humanitarian appeal on Tuesday to international and regional organizations, as well as relief agencies, requesting immediate intervention to respond to a surging wave of displacement driven by armed clashes in the Al-Subeiha region. The appeal—issued jointly by the local authority, the Emergency Committee, and the local offices of Planning and International Cooperation, Social Affairs and Labor, and Public Health and Population—urged humanitarian groups, relief funds, and business leaders to provide emergency aid to meet the rapidly expanding needs of families displaced and affected by the conflict. The distress call comes amid a sharp escalation in humanitarian needs across several Yemeni regions. The United Nations previously warned of a deepening crisis, noting that approximately 300,000 people have been displaced since early August due to the recent escalation in hostilities. UN warnings also highlighted that nearly a quarter of a million people in the city of Taiz currently face severe hardship in accessing essential primary healthcare services.
