Yemeni President Sets Four Priorities for Newly Appointed Governor of Al-Jawf

Yemen Monitor / Newsroom: Chairman of the Yemeni Presidential Leadership Council, Dr. Rashad Muhammad Al-Alimi, stressed the role of local authorities in Al-Jawf in consolidating ground gains and building upon them to complete the liberation of the remaining parts of the governorate. Al-Alimi’s remarks came following the sworn oath taken on Sunday by Major General Amin Ali Al-Akimi upon his appointment as Governor of Al-Jawf Governorate and Commander of the Al-Jawf Military Axis. Al-Alimi praised Al-Jawf and its national and strategic weight in the project to restore state institutions, affirming that the stance of its people and their sacrifices in defense of the republican system deserve recognition, care, and fairness. Addressing the new governor, Al-Alimi stated: “Your responsibility is to unite the efforts of the local authority and social components, strengthen coordination with military and security leaderships, and overcome any differences that would weaken the national front.” He affirmed that Operation Fajr Yemen (“Yemen Dawn”) was launched to fulfill the aspirations of all Yemenis, facilitate the return of displaced persons to their homes, restore lands and property, and end fear, extortion, and forced recruitment. Al-Alimi called on the residents of Al-Jawf not to send their children into what he described as futile battles led by the Houthi movement, emphasizing that safe return remains open to anyone who lays down their arms and ceases fighting alongside the group, in accordance with announced procedures. The President directed the local authority leadership in Al-Jawf to submit a work plan with clear priorities and conduct regular follow-ups on needs, outcomes, and obstacles, noting that reclaiming territory will only be complete through the restoration of security, public services, and the trust of Al-Jawf’s residents.
