Yemen Monitor / Newsroom: The Yemeni Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Expatriates welcomed a statement issued by the High Representative of the European Union, which contained a strong condemnation of the recent Houthi escalation, attacks on civilians and civilian infrastructure in Yemen, and strikes targeting the neighboring Kingdom of Saudi Arabia. The Yemeni Government commended the EU’s call to halt all military support to the Houthi movement—specifically emphasizing Iranian backing—as well as its firm stance against the starvation of civilians as a method of warfare. The government also praised the EU’s demand for the immediate opening of a humanitarian corridor in Taiz and the prompt, unconditional release of detained UN personnel and relief workers. The ministry called on the international community to translate these positions into concrete operational steps to sever the group’s arms supply pipelines, cut off its funding, and end its impunity. Reaffirming its position, the government emphasized that ending the Houthi coup and supporting state institutions in establishing full sovereignty remain the fundamental prerequisite for protecting the Yemeni people, ensuring regional security, and safeguarding freedom of navigation in the Red Sea and the Bab al-Mandab Strait.
